TLC–Densitometric Analysis of Selected 5-Nitroimidazoles

Metronidazole, ornidazole, tinidazole, and secnidazole are 5-nitroimidazoles. The purpose of this work was to propose a new economical TLC–densitometric method evaluate the chemical stability metronidazole, secnidazole, tinidazole under stress conditions. A forced degradation study performed on silica gel aqueous solutions at various pH values; were prepared in saline hydrogen peroxide, respectively. samples 5-nitroimidazoles heated. TLC analyses 60F254 using chloroform–methanol (9:1, v/v) as mobile phase. As can effectively separate from their products which formed result studies, it is considered be good alternative important tool routine quality control testing pharmaceutical formulations. results indicate that proposed cost-effective, rapid, specific, accurate, precise; also realizes criterion linearity. major advantage its low cost ability analyze 5-nitroimidazole investigated all simultaneously.
